What He Would Say

I don’t often presume to know exactly what my littlest love is thinking. His mind is too beautiful for that.

But if I had to guess what he’s feeling when he is with his Daddy… one of the easiest things I’d ever have to do, by far.

In your presence, dear Husband, our son exudes joy.
The giggles.
The belly laughs.
The smiles.
The ear-to-ear kind, where you can see every single baby tooth.

The way you rub his head.

They way you give piggy back rides.

How you hoist him up onto your shoulder for walks.

The funny way you read bedtime stories.

You’re his protector.
His friend.
His partner in crime.
The keeper of the snacks.
His “Da-Da”!

It’s clear to everyone we meet that our sweet boy loves you with his whole heart. For everything you are.

And whether or not we are ever given the gift of hearing our Beckett say another verabal word in this life…
To you, sweet Daddy, I know exactly what he would say.
